Rifrazioni
Rifrazioni is the winning project of the Ministry of Culture's new call for proposals for the accessibility in the performing arts in Italy and combines two artistic productions by dance professionals with disabilities in different roles on stage and behind the scenes, but not only. Workshops with the community open to people with disabilities, approachability and accessibility actions for audiences with physical sensory and cognitive disabilities, specific promotion and communication actions attentive to the different needs of the audiences, poetic audio description for an audience of blind people, who tend to be excluded from dance audiences.
All these actions are part of the project presented by us, as project leader, together with eight realities from all over Italy: Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara Trento, APS Fuori Luogo (Festival Fisiko!) La Spezia, APS Arcigay Il Cassero / Gender Bender and Associazione Nexus Bologna, IAC Matera, Menhir/Le Danzatrici en plein air TeatroMenzatì/Tex il teatro dell'ExFadda, Versiliadanza Firenze. All partners are already part of the Europe Beyond Access network Italy.
The two different artistic productions involved are I versi delle mani by Marta Bellu with Agnese Banti and Laura Lucioli and Lampyris Noctiluca by Aristide Rontini.
For both projects, the artists will develop the poetic audio description of the performances in collaboration with blind artist Giuseppe Comuniello and playwright Camilla Guarino.
Rifrazioni, as requested in the ministerial announcement, already has a touring schedule: 12 dates planned in different regions of Italy.
I versi delle mani by Marta Bellu was the work that crowned the process of professionalisation of Laura Lucioli - a person with Down Syndrome - as a dancer, following an inclusive dance and choreographic research project done by the choreographer with people with disabilities. The work combines notes and dance in the simultaneous writing of a musical and choreographic score and is associated with the Glitter workshop, which is offered to the community and invites people with and without disabilities to participate in a space of sharing through dance.
Lucioli, who leads the workshops together with the choreographer Bellu, represents in these contexts a new model for people with disabilities who may wish to pursue a career in dance, as well as a new piece in the imagination of able-bodied people who are certainly not used to being guided by those with disabilities.
Lampyris Noctiluca, on the other hand, is the title of the work by Aristide Rontini, who is its director, choreographer and performer, assuming all-round leadership within the production. During the performance, Rontini stages his disability in dialogue with the legacy of Pier Paolo Pasolini, citing the "fireflies" from Scritti corsari, in which the writer used the metaphor of the "disappearance of fireflies" for a strong political critique of the uniformity of prevailing models. Rontini thus makes the presence on stage resonate as the taking of space and voice of a minority that resists and asserts itself by conveying a clear and situated point of view.
