One seat for two
Una poltrona per due (A Seat for Two) is Oriente Occidente’s first crowdfunding campaign, created with the goal of opening our doors to an ever-growing number of people.
Theatre is a collective ritual: a place where emotions and ideas are shared, a space where community is built. With Una poltrona per due, we wanted to do exactly that: make Oriente Occidente Dance Festival even more accessible.
Thanks to the donations collected, we are now implementing concrete actions to encourage cultural participation: we offer suspended tickets to people who cannot afford them, organize talks and introductory meetings around performances, promote opportunities to engage with contemporary dance, and develop activities for specific groups of people who face greater barriers to accessing culture today.
Because art should not be a privilege, but an open space.
Una poltrona per due means adding a seat, making room for someone who was not there before, and becoming a larger community every day.
One seat at a time.
The campaign was selected among the projects participating in the Crowdfunding for Culture Award, which recognizes initiatives where art and culture act as drivers of social innovation, place-based regeneration, and new forms of cultural welfare.
Thanks to the crowdfunding campaign, we organize introductory meetings for selected performances to increase the accessibility of the theatre experience.
We present the themes, questions, and ideas that inform each work, together with its aesthetic choices. We create an open and accessible environment, using clear and straightforward language to provide audiences with useful tools for engaging with the performance and to encourage participation by everyone.
The meetings are scheduled as follows:
Sunday, 6 September, 7:00 PM, Teatro Zandonai, on NO by La Venidera
Thursday, 10 September, 3:00 PM, Urban Center, on Sciucàri by Andrea De Siena and Teatro del Mediterraneo

Thanks to the resources raised through the campaign, we are also developing activities dedicated to specific groups of people.
Guided pathways, opportunities for dialogue, and cultural mediation activities are designed to encourage the participation of young people, new communities, and those who currently have limited access to cultural spaces.
Economic barriers can also prevent people from accessing culture. For this reason, we encourage the participation of those at risk of being excluded by making a number of suspended tickets available through our box office, or by contacting us at booking@orienteoccidente.it.
