Confini conflitti rotte. Geopolitica della danza

Elisa Guzzo Vaccarino

Elisa Guzzo Vaccarino, dance critic and historian, presents her latest book on Saturday 11 March at 6pm in the conference room of the Fondazione Caritro in Rovereto in dialogue with journalist and critic Carmelo A. Zapparrata.

Dance: a minor art for a select few and hostile to most or a highly symbolic cultural heritage, a mirror of regimes, rites and civilisations?

The author in Confini conflitti rotte. Geopolitica della danza finds the conditions of existence of this art in the social structures and political choices of every place on planet Earth where it unfolds with its technique, its aesthetics, its messages, in time and space.

Elisa Guzzo Vaccarino looks at dance as a mirror of the organisation of communities, of conflicts, of ideological battles, of the boundaries that are supposed to enclose it. She critiques the western meaning of the word "dance", which evokes and refers to the evolution of ballet in modern and post-modern forms, considered superior and more evolved than the "others", and shows an interpretation of the events of the body in performance from a global, comprehensive perspective that includes issues of "race", gender, identity, and costume.

It is possible to purchase a copy of the book during the event. Participation is free of charge with prior booking: click on book at the top right and fill in the form.
